Why do our homes get damp, moldy and smelly in winter?

We are fast approaching that cold, damp time of the year which produces a lot

of mold, stale damp smells and
condensation in your home.

"Why do our homes get wet, damp and moldy, we look after our house, keep it well maintained and have expert advise yet still have issues". This is a question many people ask themselves this time of the year and when you understand what actually happens, it actually makes sense.

To keep the explanation as short ans as simple as possible it can be summed up like this. We all produce moisture by many means, basically cooking, showering, cleaning and breathing. We can introduce up to 30 liters per day dependent on the family size, liken it to tipping 3 x 10 liter buckets of water throughout your home every day. What happens to that water? In summer most is gone through evaporation from wind and heat due to doors and windows being opened on a regular basis. In winter, we keep the home locked up tight, 'modern homes are even more air tight' so where does that water go, it doesn't magically disappear, it is absorbed into your home, furnishings, clothing, bedding, carpets and as the years pass, into the physical structure of the house. This moisture is constantly being 'mobilised' due to heating and cooling within the home both mechanically and naturally hence everything having a damp or wet feel, very high humidity within the home and consequently feeding mold, bacteria and general sickness such as coughs and colds, asthma and respiratory illness. If this moisture can be dealt with as it is caused, it makes for a more healthier, cleaner, drier and warmer home. To find out how to deal with it as it is caused, have a read of our '20 good pointers' which will help control moisture within the home.

"We had the SAYR system installed five days ago           and we are sleeping better at night in a cooler              better ventilated room, even with the window closed.      The smell of wet dog (from the previous owner's pet),       is no longer there and the house is now pleasant to live in.

Thank you to you and your team".

Best wishes - Ann Trethowen

Do you Live in a dirty fish bowl - many do without realising !

I love this analogy!  Humour me for a second…

If your pet fish was sick, what would you do?
Pump it full of antibiotics? Change the brand of fish flakes? Of course not…
The cause of the problem isn’t the fish…it’s the dirty water.
You wanna save your fish? Change the dirty water.
Okay, so what’s this got to do with you?
Only everything.
Just like the fish…You are a product of your environment.
Are you swimming in muddied waters?
You have 3 choices,

1.     live outside the fish bowl? Not an option.
2.     Take more drugs, wear a mask? Not a solution.
3.     The most obvious - clean the water.

Why live in a polluted environment where it is easier to bring the outdoors inside with all the indoor comforts.

It is not a difficult decision, it not an expensive option - how much value do you put on your families health and well being? is $3000 too much? I didnt think so. That is why we can make it so easy for you to be swimming in crystal clear waters, the only thing you need to do is say YES.

Take the first step, call or email us today, its actually a very pleasant experience when you deal with us.

SAYR is the best system available at the best price and we give genuine kiwi customer service for the life of the system.

The Pukekawa school pool SAYR Solar heating system was installed a mere 3 weeks ago, then it was HOT and sunny weather conditions. That day the pool temperature was recorded to be 21 degrees Celsius.

As part of the SAYR service, a checkup on the pool was conducted on the 1st February, it was an overcast day, the pool was recorded to be 30 degree's Celcius.

I guess that speaks for itself. Your pool could have the same results and its not expensive to run like gas, electricity or heat pumps. Talk to us now.

Subject: SAYR Ventilation System

 Dear Brent

You asked me to give you feed back 12 months ago after having our SAYR System installed in September 2012. I felt it would be sensible to wait until we had experienced a full winter with the new system.

The ventilation system has been great. During the winter there were no days of "weeping windows" and  nobody in the family had any significant coughs or colds, a first for us. The ventilation system has changed the environment of our home and I would strongly recommend your system as well as service that we received.

With regards

Robert

Our Latest Project proves to be another winner

Mark and Mike fitting the panels to the Pukekawa School swimming pool solar heating system and being overseen by Shane. This was a 33 panel system and coupled with SAYR's thermal pool cover, results were immediate.

This was a slightly tricky job due to the steep pitch on the roof hence the safety harnesses. Although a relatively big job and the pitch of the roof, the team still managed to complete this in 1 day.

Whether the job is big or small, SAYR solar pool heating will make a big difference to your swimming enjoyment and increase the swim time of the your pool by 3 months, that is nothing to take lightly.

The German panels coupled with the smart digital controller and dual sensoring take effectiveness and efficiency to the next level. You will be surprised how well our system works and how cheap it is to run. Get a no obligation free quote from the SAYR team now. We also replace ineffective or broken existing systems.

A fun time was had at the Shelly Park School Gala in Howick on Sunday 17th Nov.

The SAYR team was there cooking gordon blue sausages on the barby with onions, good old kiwi tom sauce and mustard. It was a stinker of a day with a few red bodys wandering around, drinks selling out just on mid day.

Well done team SAYR raising, $600 for the school.

Ray Kett - Home Show winner - couldn't have gone to a better person

SAYR are happy to announce the Home show winner, Ray Kett from Tahuna in the Waikato. Ray is a stalwart of local community projects and a very strong supporter of the local sports clubs and youth projects.

We wish Ray the best and congratulate him on his win and we would like to say it could not have gone to a more worthy recipient.

Below is an excerpt of a recent article about Ray from a local newsletter:

CLUB LEGEND
RAY KETT

SINCE 1986 Ray Kett has been the glue which has helped kept Northern alive.

Behind the scenes he continues to work tirelessly and selflessly.

“Someone’s got to otherwise it could be all over, red rover,” he chuckles.

While refusing to reveal his actual age (reluctantly admitting “it has to be over 50”), the tough-as-teak Kett still takes the field occasionally. Fluctuating playing numbers saw the combative hooker play half a dozen games this season often against opponents half his age. “You get a bit cunning about which rucks to hit,” he laughs, “but I still love the physical side of the game.”

VISITING TAHUNA (population 254) is unlikely to ever feature on the bucket lists of any trendsetters or the rich and famous.

But for true connoisseurs of the game wanting to savour the ultimate grassroots rugby experience, a visit to this tiny north Waikato settlement is highly recommended.
